Registration is open for Winter classes at The Actors Gymnasium, a circus & performing arts school that is home to some of the most exciting classes and performances in the Chicagoland area. RAVINIA DISTRICT, HIGHLAND PARK, IL (MARCH 2017) – The Ravinia District and Ravinia Festival are teaming up once again to collect musical instruments to be refurbished, ‘recycled’ and placed into the hands of children in underserved communities. Beginning March 15th through June 9th, 17 businesses in the Ravinia District are serving as drop locations for individuals who wish to donate instruments to the program. Learn the oldest and most visceral weapon style. Attacks, defenses, footwork and performance skills unique to the performance of safe and effective theatrical knife play are covered. Participants will have the opportunity to take the Society of American Fight Directors skills proficiency test. Taught by Chuck Coyl.

Northshore Concert Band: Giving Voice to the Silenced. This powerful musical program tells a story of vitality, loss, contemplation and possibility. The music of Jacques Press, Jack Stamp, John Williams, Francis McBeth, David Maslanka and Gustav Holst is combined to create a program that honors Holocaust Remembrance Day and Earth Day. Highlights include a specially constructed and memorable “Remembrance Suite” that includes John Williams’ Theme from Schindler’s List. The program also features two works by acclaimed American composer David Maslanka.
